Mr Deepak Parekh, Non-Executive Chairman, HDFC Ltd
Born in 1944, Deepak Parekh is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants - England & Wales. He has been at the financial helm of Corporate Inc. and with effect from 1st January,2010 is the Chairman of lndia's pioneer housing-finance institution, HDFC Ltd. in a Non-Executive capacity.

Besides HDFC Group Companies, Mr. Parekh is on the board of several leading corporations across diverse sectors. He is the Non-Executive Chairman of GlaxoSmithkline Pharmaceuticals, Infrastructure Development Finance Company (IDFC), Lafarge India and Seimens India Ltd. He is also on the Indian boards of Castrol BP India, Hindustan Unilever, Mahindra & Mahindra, Indian Hotels Company Limited and international boards of Singtel (Singapore) and WNS (USA).



Dr Kirit S Parikh, Chairman, Integrated Research & Action for Development (IRADe) &
Former Member - Planning Commission, Govt of India

Dr Kirit S. Parikh has a Doctor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master's Degree in Economics from MIT, USA. He has been a Professor of Economics since 1967. He was the Chairman of the Integrated Energy Policy Committee, Planning Commission.

Dr Parikh was a Member of the Economic Advisory Council (EAC) of the Prime Ministers of India, Atal Behari Vajpayee, P.V. Narasimha Rao, Chandra Shekhar, V.P.Singh and Rajiv Gandhi. In the past he had also been a member of the National Committee for Environmental Planning & Co-ordination, the National Committee on Science and Technology and the Fuel Policy Committee.



Prof K T Ravindran, Head - Urban Design, School of Planning and Architecture
Prof K.T. Ravindran is Professor and Head of Urban Design at School of Planning and Architecture New Delhi since 1982. He is a member of the academic boards of number of universities in India and has been teaching Urban Morphology and Humanizing Cities apart from the Urban Design Studio.

Prof Ravindran is the founder President of the Institute of Urban Designers- India, a professional association of qualified urban designers. He is the Vice Chairman of the Environmental Impact Assessment Committee of the Government of India which scrutinizes all large projects all over India for their environmental fitness and management.



Mr Rajeeva Ratna Shah, Former Member Secretary, Planning Commission
Mr Rajeeva Ratna Shah is responsible for the conceptualization, structuring, funding and implementation of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). He has also been instrumental in conceptualization of Backward Regions Grant Fund (BRGF).

Mr Shah has also coordinated the Plan of Action for hosting Commonwealth Games in Delhi and developing Mumbai city into an international financial hub. He also chaired the Sub Group set up by the PMO under Committee on Information, Communication and Entertainment (ICE).



Mr S S Kohli, Chairman & Managing Director, India Infrastructure Finance Company Limited (IIFCL)
Mr S S Kohli is Chairman & Managing Director of IIFCL since March 2006. He is Chairman of IIFC (UK) Ltd also which is a wholly owned subsidiary of IIFCL. Mr Kohli is also on the Board of IDFC.

A graduate in Mechanical Engineering from Benaras Hindu University, Mr Kohli also holds a Diploma in Industrial Finance from Indian Institute of Bankers. During his varied assignments, Mr Kohli held Chairmanship of Indian Banks Association for two terms and chaired several committees associated with Financial Sector Policies.

Who can participate?
- All Indian / Multi-National organizations with a registered Indian address and who conduct business / have operations in India are permitted to participate in the awards
- Participants need to complete the nomination form based on their projects executed in India, in the event they have operations both in and outside India
- Participants could nominate projects that they would have executed individually or as a part of a consortium

Is it possible to submit a project that is still not complete?
- Only completed projects or a phase within a project that has met the objectives it was intended to meet when commissioned would be considered. The completed project or phase must be functional

Is it possible to submit entries across multiple categories?
- Yes, all organizations may submit entries across multiple categories; however the project must fulfill the respective category definitions

Is it necessary to submit supporting documents? What are the documents required?
- Yes. The award nomination should be accompanied by a CD containing information in the form of photos (.jpg, .gif, .tiff, .bmp format) / videos (.mpeg, .avi, .wma format) or valid documents that may aid in supporting the application

Is it possible to submit multiple entries within the same category?
- Each company can submit as many nominations as it desires for the projects completed within India by them in the last five years for consideration in the Main Award Categories

The Essar Steel Infrastructure Excellence Awards in association with CNBC TV18 aim to capture spectacular company and individual performances and honor these entities for their tremendous efforts.

Eight Main Award Categories are application based awards and by submitting the completed nomination form, companies are free to nominate as many nominations as they desire that they want to showcase for these awards

Special awards shall be research based awards. Top companies identified through research shall be contacted to fill in the nomination forms.

Shortlisted nominations would be presented to an independent Jury consisting of eminent panelists. The selected winners will be announced at the Final Awards Night.

Infrastructure ImagiNation Contest

Essar Steel and E18 are pleased to announce the ‘Infrastructure ImagiNation Contest’. The contest is a unique platform for students who are on the threshold of designing and creating the country’s complex infrastructure. Instituted to enthuse, encourage and empower students by giving them an opportunity to express their vision for India’s Infrastructure, this contest aims to inspire a new generation of nation builders.

Students who wish to participate need to fill in a brief questionnaire conveying their thoughts and perception of Indian Infrastructure 2020.

This national level contest is open to all students of Civil & Mechanical Engineering and Architecture.

A Jury of revered experts will evaluate and select the best entries out of all submissions.

The final winner will be felicitated at the Infrastructure Excellence Awards ceremony and will get the opportunity to rub shoulders with the stalwarts of the Infrastructure industry.

Rules & Regulations
- Entries should be submitted by individual students only
- Last date for submitting entries - 10th February 2010
- The entries will be evaluated by our Process Advisor, Grant Thornton based on parameters like creativity, practicality and impact
- Students submitting the ten best entries will be required to send in a detailed presentation of their vision.(Valid College ID will be required to be submitted). These will be shortlisted to five entries which will then be presented to a jury of industry experts
- The shortlisted entries and the winners will be declared on this website
- Students submitting the best three entries will be awarded cash prizes of Rs 1,00,000/-, Rs 75,000/- and Rs 50,000/- respectively
